Many of us would have at some point or another of our very long or very short lived lives, spent some time away from home in a foreign place, be it a hotel, a resort, a friend's home, etc.

I have had the privilege of stayin at a friend's house, a resort, a hotel, a inn, a budget hotel, a country club and an inn or should i say a backpackers hotel. I should say that in general most of my stays have been pleasant or at least up to what you'd expect from the price being paid. Oh wait that reminds me of another place i stayed, with one of the worst experiences ever.

It was on a school trip to Penang back when i was in primary school. We stayed at the famous Penang Free School. Our accomodation was basically the bunks of the hostel, which i'm assuming had not been used for sometime. The reason? I ended up with sores and boils all over my body, which left some pretty impressive marks though most have disappeared over the recent years. The Doctor's assessment was that it was bed bugs.

However the difference between that and places run by a management that makes its money from "renting" out accomodation to travellers is that the latter can be made or broken by many factors, but most of all to me by hygiene and or cleanliness of its premises.

One of the best place i've stayed in is the Sutera Harbour Resort in Sabah. Besides being gorgeous the area, stay was made even more pleasant by the people and especially the staff. I've been meaning to write about it for a while now but never got around to it.

The room was extremely comfortable especially the bed. The bathroom, a very important criteria to me, is equally comfortable. Separated from the room by a wall that is only about 3 feet high or so, while the rest of it was basically a sliding wooden window. Its almost a perverts dream come true!!! muahhaha .... 'cept for the part when your fellow roomie is making a deposit of course.

The staff were extremely helpful, even providing the woman with a tray of chocolate mousse when the buffet ran out of it. I'm still coming to grips with the fact that i spent RM50 for her to binge on chocolate mousse!! And of course she's coming to terms with it now, expecially around the girth!! muhahaha .....

There are photos but i'll have to dig it up somewhere .... will definitely post it up once i get a chance to. I'll keep this part short and move on to the second worst that i've been in ... and the reason as to why i got to posting this .....

The second worst place is OCC, a country club in S'pore. While the place comes off nice, the rooms have a bit to be desired of. My first gripe is the fact that i saw cobwebs in the room, not a very good impression now then is that. Then there was the fact that the lighting was horrible. This was followed by the fact that breakfast was not included in the package and on Sunday morning i received NO NEWSPAPER!!! I mean wtf is up with the discrimination.

Fine, so i did not pay the full amount, and was basically given a room at a subsidised price. But hey i got my room at Sutera Harbour at a discounted price as well, but i got Breakfast and NEWSPAPERS in the morning for the length of my stay.

Its pretty simple actually, if you wish to tie up, or agree to tie up with a company to provide a service, then you should seek not to discriminate. In anycase, the fact that there were cobwebs in the room was already a turn off. To summarize OCC sucked, while Sutera Harbour Rocked!!
