It really isn’t about whom you are or who you know or even who knows you. It really does not matter if you know people with influence over others. Do you really think people care? I agree that they may be in awe over your realm of influence. They may even worry about what could happen to them should they cross you. But that sphere of influence is but a physical one.
It really does not matter if you yourself have a shocking wealth of possessions. Or that you may be able to determine if a man shall live or die with a burrow of your forehead. Do you really think people care? They may be in awe of your power. But that is only physical influence.
Does it matter if you have many people at your feet, waiting to answer your beckon? Are your friends there because you don’t mind splurging money? Or that material possessions are your biggest assets? Are your friends truly friends or just fair weather friends?
Would it matter to people if you were to go one day into the other realm? Would they be at your last bash, to mourn or celebrate? If they did celebrate, what would the reason be behind that? Would they stand to gain something? Would anyone turn up at your funeral to mourn your leaving? Or would they be there just to “show face” before contemplating what they stand to gain?
If you were to think about it, coming from strangers, this would be an understandable position for them. But then again, what if it were to be coming from your own family? That would be something to ponder now would it not?
What would you want when you leave this realm? Would you want people to mourn you parting? Would you want people to think about your possessions?
There are many things to think about when it comes to life. There are even more things to think about when it comes to death. The most basic would be how to provide for your family. Simple enough, it would be for you to insure yourself.
My concern however lies beyond that. I want to leave this life not just as a person that has provided for my family, done my part in society, made friends and enemies. I do not want to be remembered for just those things. I want to be remembered for all the wrongs I’ve done too … weird but it is real. We should all want to be remembered for the person’s we are, were, was and is.
To be remembered in such a way, is to truly have left an impression amongst friends and family.
